General Editorial Policy
WikiVoyager has a two-fold mission:
1. To develop a set of travel and destination guides created by Travel Professionals.
2. To make WikiVoyager content freely available to travel writers and travel agents as a marketing and research tool.
In keeping with the above mission, WikiVoyager seeks to provide a resource that is interesting and useful to Travel Professionals in their research and marketing. Secondarily, WikiVoyager seeks to allow Travel Professionals to contribute to its content in an effort to enrich its quality and quantity of information.
Please observe the following guidelines:
- With the exceptions noted directly below, please do not link out to tour operators, local ground operators or other third party sites unless those sites are related to a governmental or quasi-governmental tourism authority. Thus, linking to the Hawaii Tourism Board is permissible. Linking to any tour operator or travel agency is not.
- It is permissible in the context of a review to link to a hotel property or a restaurant. However, only third parties may do so and then only in the context of a legitimate, objective review. Do not review properties in which you have either a financial or a competitive relationship.
- It is permissible to link out to an attraction, e.g. "Six Flags", so long as you do not have a financial or competitive interest in the company to which you link.
- Do not create links to yourself, your travel agency or tour company. Please submit information that will be useful to your peers.
- Write in such a fashion that any user, including your own competition, would feel comfortable using the materials: fair and unbiased, so to speak.
- You may create promotions on your own User Page. However the promotions must directly promote you in the context of your travel writing or tour or agency business. In no circumstance may any contributor promote a multi-level or referral travel company or business.
Use the Discussion Pages
Any article that can be edited will also have a Discussion Page. You can read the Discussion Page by clicking on the Discussion tab at the top of any page. Use this great device to discuss the article...to agree or disagree...to suggest revisions. Try to arrive at a consensus if at any point you disagree with another contributor on a review or a way of handling a topic. Always assume good faith on the part of any participant and seek to combine your perspectives into a harmonious topic.

Phase II
WikiVoyager will have two aspects: A travel professional portal and a consumer portal. The Travel Professional Portal is the site you are on now. This is where the WikiVoyager content will be created, developed and edited. Our contributors will be travel writers, travel agents and tour operators.
The Consumer Portal will be launched in October, 2007. That portal will be for consumers at VoyagerGuides.com. There, consumers will be able to read the content created by travel professionals.
- Travel Writers will be able to feature their own work in articles on the Voyager Guides site. Those stories will be "attached" to particular destinations. The site will pay $100 for first publication for those stories contributed that our editorial staff feels should be "highlighted" for featuring monthly on the site. All copyright for such stories will remain with the authors. Our editorial staff will assist with story development and editing.
- The Voyager Guides site will promote the use of travel agents, providing consumers with a City/Zipcode database of travel agents to contact about any of the specials advertised on the site. The Travel Agent Database will be composed of those agents contributing to the Travel Professional Portal. That site will generate leads for our contributors, at no cost.
- Tour Operators will have an opportunity to promote their tours on the site via advertising campaigns. Those tour operators contributing editorial copy to the WikiVoyager site will receive greatly reduced advertising rates.
