[edit] Overview
The moment you enter the Carlyle, you know something is up…upscale, that is. This is one of the top Manhattan properties and wafting throughout the hotel is a certain air of haute … something or other. With its amazingly great location on Central Park with the nearby Metropolitan Museum and shopping on Fifth Avenue, the Carlyle has been a fixture pulling in celebrities, heads of state and your everyday wealthy. The Carlyle is nothing short of sophisticated.
[edit] The Rooms
All of the rooms in the 35 story tower are furnished with antiques and fine appointments. Marble bathrooms have whirlpool tubs. Even the standard rooms are spacious and the suites, often more than $6,500 night, are warm and rich.
[edit] The Staff
The Carlyle’s staff is exquisitely well trained. Guests are pampered and repeat guests will find themselves greeted at every corner by name. The atmosphere is more formal than warm, however. If it’s warm you want, try the Four Seasons on at East 57th St. or bring a friend.
[edit] Extras
Guests can dine in at the The Carlyle Restaurant with its fine Mediterranean cuisine. The Café Carlyle supplies subdued evening entertainment. And the Bemelmans bar is just the place for a discerning guest to throw down a $20 martini. A small but well-furnished spa and fitness room is available to guests.
