How To Contribute Guide

From WikiVoyager

Jump to: navigation, search
Contributing to WikiVoyager is simple. The first rule is to just give it a try! Don’t worry about making mistakes or getting everything perfect. Others in the community will assist with polishing your work.

We understand that not everyone wishes to learn the wiki markup language. That is fine with us. If you would rather that our staff enter your comments and text, please send them to editorial@wikivoyager.com. We will endeavor to enter your articles and edits on your behalf and you will still receive credit as a contributor. If you wish for this to be done, please clean up your edits and articles to the greatest degree possible. That said, we would love for you to just take the plunge and try your hand at being one of our editors!

We Need

1. Fact Checking - read the articles and let us know if you see errors or items that need to be corrected. You can email us and we will correct it, or you can correct it yourself using the wiki!
2. Hotel Reviews - If you want to try your hand at a hotel review, please do. Again, email us a finished review patterned after The Carlyle or, start one of your own and put it in the system.
3. Restaurant Reviews - you can pattern these after our review of Otto.

Hotel and Restaurant reviews are a great place to start. You can find out more about how to do your first review in our Style Manual.

If you wish to be a contributor or editor read this page and the links from this page carefully. Here you will find a great deal of information that will greatly assist you in your efforts.

You, and other travel professionals like you, are the key to WikiVoyager. Many thanks for your contributions.

Take a quick look at the following:

  • Our Style Manual will give you some idea of the editorial voice of WikiVoyager. Every article in the system has a Discussion Page where you can discuss the article with other contributors. Use this page to settle disputes, make suggestions or to explain your edits. When posting to a Discussion Page, use the "Signature" button on the toolbar. That will introduce your name and the time of your remark into the text. Do Not use the signature markup on Article Pages, however!
  • The Help Guide will teach you about the basics of editing in the WikiVoyager environment. Just a little bit of patience will have you editing like a pro in no time.
  • When we create an account for you, we also create a User Page where you can profile yourself, add a picture if you want, discuss your business and generally let the rest of the community know about you and the professional company you keep. This is also a great place to practice your editing skills!
